Venice

When we got to Frankfort our luggage was not on the airplane so we spent our first night in Munich and picked up our luggage the next day.  Before we set off for Italy we spent several hours in Munich due to a car problem .

It was a nice drive through the Alps except for one minor problem. While driving near Innsbruck Austria, with several cars in front and behind us, we were stopped by two men in uniform carrying rifles.  They had a proposition for us, give them $30.00 cash or go into town for further consideration.  We elected to pay the #30.00, no receipt.

Our Italian vocabulary consisted of about 20 words, but that did not cause any problems. People were very helpful.

We entered Italy after dark and in a heavy rain pulled into a town of a forgotten name.  We found  Hotel Bolz and checked in  10:00 or so PM.  Our first Italian meal was in a Pizza shop, about a block away. It was recommended by the hotel clerk .  We were hungry and the pizza tasted just fine.

We drove to Venice the next morning and parked in a large parking garage, walked into  town and found a nice little hotel on a side street. It was a good choice and you will see a picture of the hotel below.

During our Venice stay we walked over 10 miles.  Perhaps some of these miles we had no idea where we were but enjoyed the scenery and chatting with friendly people.

We saw many of the sights, walked over a zillion bridges, took a waterbus, ate well, bought a mask and completely enjoyed every day, every hour we were there.

You will see a sampling of the sights we visited and pictures we took.
