where I lived until 1946, then we moved to Akron, Ohio

Kathleen Minnie Nitz (McDowell) was born in this house,
1360 Lenora Ave, Akron, OH on January 8, 1932.
We spent a while looking around the yards
but house was unoccupied so could not get invited in.

Cloyd Everett McDowell "MAC" A rare young view. My father was born in Semour, Iowa. Kathleen and I ate breakfast there one morning. Semour is a few miles east of Garden Grove.

My great grandmother Jane Taylor Barbour 
Garden Grove,Iowa My great grandmother Jane Taylor Barbour 1847-1940. Jane Barbour was married to a John Barbour so very likely she lived on this John Barbour Farm in Garden Grove Iowa.
The area is a treasure trove of my ancestors history. Of course that could be said of other parts of Iowa also.

This is Mary Sink. The mother of Isabel Sink of the
famous Neal Sink Farm
where I spent parts of 5 summers during WWII. I never met her
I did meet her husband who was once
Mayor of Van Wert Iowa the PO address of the farm. Her name on the back of this picture cleared up to me
,with the help of my son, the McDowell connection to the farm

Nellie Barbour McDowell was my Grandmother
So sisters helped bring me there.
Obviously this picture was taken at about the same time and place as the picture above.

Brothers of my wife Kathleen many years later.
Not sure who the young girl is.

relatives or friends. Knowing it is a Nitz
related picture is was what was needed.

the number stamp is similiar

My only grandmother that I met. Nellie Barbour McDowell I met her several times. She had a beauty shop in her home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

A youth picture of Elsie Klabbatz. She became the mother of six children including Kathleen who became my wife in 1955.
